2013 Local Rules Updates - local rules and scheduled dates

Please review the important reminders listed below:

2013 Charter/Insurance Follow Up:Please be aware that any league that has not submitted their Charter Application and Insurance Enrollment form and/or has not paid their insurance premiums in full, is currently operating with no insurance coverage.  It is important to note that without proper insurance coverage, the league and its officials will not be properly covered for any league activities and they are exposed to potential litigation that may arise throughout the course of their league operations.  Liability and Accident Insurance will not be in force for the 2013 season until the league has chartered and paid their insurance premiums in full.  Please go here for more information about the chartering process: CLICK HERE

Child Abuse: As an addition to Little League's Child Protection Program, in place for more than a decade, we are providing information that local league and district volunteers in each of the 50 U.S. states can use in knowing the proper procedures for reporting suspected child abuse. The information allows volunteers in any state to easily access information on statutory language, hotline reporting information and reporting requirements.  This information has been updated as of December 20, 2012.

Concussions: Many states have enacted laws designed to prevent concussions and protect the health and safety of young athletes. LLB has compiled a summary of all currently existing and proposed state laws regarding concussions in youth athletes.  Some state laws are only applicable to school-sponsored athletics or to activities taking place on school-owned property. Other laws are applicable to all youth sports organizations, whether affiliated or not with a school district. It is strongly recommended that local leagues consult with legal counsel in its jurisdiction to determine the applicability of state laws regarding concussions to its program.  Not every state has adopted concussion laws, and not every state's concussion law is applicable to a LLB program. Nevertheless, in keeping with its focus on protecting the health, safety and welfare of children, LLB strongly encourages all leagues and teams to not only comply with any applicable state laws, but also, to review the information and training materials on concussions which are available free of charge on the Centers For Disease Control website at: CLICK HERE = and www.cdc.gov/Concussion.  This information has been updated as of December 15, 2012.  CLICK HERE

Sincerely,
